Alvaro Moreno Salinas

NEW BRAUNFELS — Alvaro Moreno Salinas, 95, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas.

Alvaro was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle whose greatest pride was his family. Throughout his life, he worked hard and made many sacrifices to ensure that his children received a good education and had opportunities that his efforts helped make possible.

In his youth in Nuevo León, Mexico, Alvaro was a champion weightlifter and boxer. He later proudly served in the United States Navy and went on to build a long career with Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 31 years.

Alvaro loved spending time at the family ranch, watching over his cattle, and sharing the ranch with his grandchildren. He took them fishing and gave them memories of adventures in the countryside—including more than a few encounters with rattlesnakes. He treasured time with his grandchildren, and even near the very end of his life, he continued to find joy in playing games with his grandson. He also had a well-known sweet tooth and rarely passed up the opportunity for something sweet.

Alvaro was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio Moreno and Maria Salinas de Moreno.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Severa Moreno; his children, Clarissa Moreno, PharmD, and her husband, Octavio Martinez, MD, MPH, MBA, and Alvaro Moreno II, MD, and his wife, Marta Molina, MD; his five grandchildren, Frida Victoria Moreno, Daniela Alessandra Moreno, Natalia Monserrat Moreno, Alvaro Sebastian Moreno, and Sofia Clarisse Martinez; his sister, Idalia Moreno; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.

Alvaro will be remembered for his strength, his devotion to his family, his work ethic, and the sacrifices he made so that the generations after him could have opportunities he worked so hard to provide.

He will be laid to rest in his hometown in Nuevo León, Mexico, beside his mother, returning to the place that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 11:30 a.m. rosary service on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
