Angela Sandoval Longoria

d. December 1, 2018

MCALLEN/BROWNSVILLE - Angela “Angie” Marie Sandoval Longoria, 54, passed peacefully on December 1, 2018 surrounded by the light and love of her husband and family at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.

Born on May 8, 1964 in Houston, the fourth of six siblings, Angela was named by her mother after a beautiful, brown-haired paper doll that Angie’s older sisters played with.

When Angie was in the first grade, the family moved to the Rio Grande Valley; they lived in Weslaco before eventually setting down roots in McAllen. As a child, Angie was an athlete, performer, competitor, and above all, an independent and fun-loving spirit. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, surfing, and running -- any way to enrich her body, mind and soul.

McAllen High School Class of 1982 was very near and dear to her heart. She made many lifelong friends as a member of the McHi Stepper dance team, and as a varsity cheerleader and volleyball teammate. She was also a member of the school’s senior hall of fame. After high school, she attended Pan American University and studied liberal arts.

Angie was known, all around, as a stunning beauty with long brown hair and light brown eyes.

Following her love of fashion, Angie worked at Jones & Jones and Dillard's in McAllen, and was often the model and muse of professional photographer Eduardo Jarero, also originally of McAllen. Later, she worked as an administrative assistant with the City of McAllen Convention Center, before moving to Brownsville, where she worked as an administrative assistant with Brownsville ISD, and spent much of her time walking her dogs with her husband at Bay View.

Angie’s favorite ways to spend her free time included maintaining her own personal fitness, helping others achieve their health goals, rescuing animals in need, and appreciating the live musical performances of both her husband and father. Family and friends will remember that she was never shy to grab the microphone and join in to perform a duet with her husband. Angie’s most favorite way to spend her free time was to be surrounded by her absolutely beautiful grandchildren, Aurora and Xantos.

Angie is survived by her parents, Rene and Minerva Sandoval of McAllen; her husband, Alfredo “Freddy” Longoria of Brownsville; her children, Danielle Garza (David) Cortez of Granger, Indiana, Jordan Romero of McAllen, and David W. Dramberger of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Aurora Catalina Cortez-Garza and Xantos David Cortez-Garza of Granger, Indiana; five siblings, Bridget Sandoval (Ruben) Maldonado of Donna, Vilma Sandoval (Robert) Molina of San Antonio, Patty Sandoval (Kevin) Sralla of San Antonio, Sylvia Sandoval (Henry) Perez of San Antonio, and Rene Sandoval Jr. (Martin Ybarra) of San Antonio; and five nieces and four nephews.

She is also survived by her rescued fur babies: five dogs, Sydney AKA Seekeypito, Sadie, Sam, Little Girl and Tia; six cats, Binky, Baby Binky, Khaleesi, Baby Blue, Mila and Franklin.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2201 Martin Ave, McAllen.
