Edinburg - Arnoldo F. Benavides, 82, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Mr. Benavides was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas Benavides and Eva Flores; four siblings, Ma. Del Socorro (Hector) Zarate, Tomas Benavides Jr., Eva Benavides, and Maria Elena Salazar.

Mr. Benavides is survived by his wife Maria Isabel Benavides; five children, Clarissa (Dale) Gaubatz, Dina (Rick) Flores, Linda Benavides, Cindy (Mike) Jones, Arnoldo (Melinda) Benavides Jr.; three step children, Christina (Efrain) Garza, Arturo (Nitza) Alvarez, and Lupita (Antonio) Rosales; eleven grandchildren, Trae Gaubatz, Darby Gaubatz, Jonathan L. Flores, Aiden Mares, Lauren N. Benavides, Daniel L. Benavides, Caleb Garza, Ethan Garza, Desirae Urbina, Emmanuel Rosales, and Christian Rosales; three siblings, Timoteo (Agapita) Benavides, Raul (Betty) Benavides, and Carlos (Imelda) Benavidez; numerous nieces and nephews.

A devoted lifelong educator and public servant, he dedicated his life to helping others. He began his journey with a bachelor's degree from Pan American University and continued his education with a master's degree from Texas Tech University. For 52 years, he worked in education, serving as a teacher and principal, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Even after retirement, he continued to serve his community by volunteering his time to students in alternative schools. He also served his community as a member of the city council and as mayor pro tem for the city of Edinburg, Texas. His commitment to education and public service will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. memorial discourse Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
