BERTHA GUERRA ROGERS
DONNA - Bertha Guerra Rogers, 89, entered eternal home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 10, 2023, in New Braunfels, Texas. Bertha was born on August 26, 1933, in El Sauz, Texas. Bertha was the third of fourteen children born to Ciro and Maria Ernestina Guerra. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred W. Rogers Sr.; her son, Alfred W. Rogers Jr.; her parents; siblings, Leonel Guerra, Ernestina Cavazos, Ciro Guerra, Guadalupe G. Castro, and Ruben Guerra.
Bertha was a graduate of McAllen High School and later worked for Charles Clark Chevrolet and assisted her husband Alfred W. Rogers Sr. with his business endeavors in Finance and Tourism. Bertha was a loving and dedicated mother of six children who she nurtured to achieve success in their education, to become capable and independent adults, and to be prosperous in the community. Bertha also lived to serve as an example to her children by being active in her community, performing her civic duty as a voting poll watcher, and living a life of service before self-interest. After successfully raising her children she enjoyed her grandchildren and indulging in her hobbies which included quilting, crochet, and Sudoku. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in
the hearts and cherished memories of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bertha was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her children, Sandra Yvette Jimenez, Norma Diana (Richard) Vela, Bertha Yvonne (Rolando) Garcia, Dee Dee (Darlene) Rogers, M.D. and Patricia Ann (Daniel) Farias; daughter in law Michelle; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Martin (Maria Elena) Guerra Sr., Ramon (Minerva) Guerra, Gilberto (Alicia) Guerra, Roberto Guerra, Jorge (Terry) Guerra, Hector Guerra, Angelina Perez and Norma (Guadalupe) Castillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Chuch in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Victor Jimenez, Alfred Jimenez, Ricardo Rene Vela Jr., Alfred W. Rogers Jr., Daniel Farias Sr., and Daniel Farias Jr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
