Colleen Therese Valenta "Kelly"

Colleen Therese Valenta, known to many as “Kelly” passed away surrounded by love on January 18, 2026. Up until her passing, Kelly impacted those around her with humor, love, compassion, and care for others.

Kelly spent her early years in Thousand Oaks, California living with her mother Eileen Ann Rittmanic and four brothers. Kelly was the eldest of five and was a dedicated role model and second mother to her siblings. Kelly always knew she wanted to someday raise a family of her own. When she met Frank Valenta in 1974, she (and Frank) knew they had met the person with whom this family would be built in 1976. Together they raised three children, Brad, Nichole and Rebekah Valenta in McAllen, Texas. During their 49 years of marriage, Kelly overachieved creating a beautiful and welcoming home full of life, character, and unconditional love.

The crowning glory for Kelly was the arrival of her grandchildren, Ariana, Aden and Bella. Kelly delighted in everything about her role as a grandmother. She made it a point to be present in all things regarding her grandchildren. From teaching and walking alongside them through life lessons, to supporting their interests like modeling, football, soccer, theatre. She made it a point to ensure she attended every event, performance, birthday and life milestone. Kelly delighted in her grandchildren as much, if not more, than she delighted in fitness.

Kelly’s passion for fitness showed itself for over 35 years. She often would tell the story of her dressed up as a hostess Twinkie and said, that was when fitness became a part of her everyday life. Kelly’s joy of fitness and nutrition radiated the world from the local grocery store aisle to her longstanding relationships with personal clients. Kelly always shared a good tip by leading with “a better option is if you….” It didn’t matter if you were an indecisive customer at H‑E‑B or a personal client for a day or 10 plus years, she always wanted the best and healthiest option for you. Kelly, like many already know, dedicated her life to going out of her way to help and support others, even if you didn’t ask. She always had a listening ear, home cooked meal, or a plate of sweets ready to provide comfort.

Kelly was fondly referred to as “Sunshine” by her adoring husband Frank, and that she truly was, a bright shining light here on this earth, full of warmth, taken far too soon. She touched so many people with her kindness, grace, mercy, and genuine love for others, no matter if it was a stranger in passing or those closest to her. Kellys love of people radiated everywhere she went. Kelly will be missed by many, far more than she could ever fathom, but her “sunshine” will live on in the hearts and good works of all of those who had the honor to know and love her.
