McALLEN — Tomasz G. Rogula, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S., 58, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in McAllen, Texas.

Professor Tomasz Rogula was a distinguished surgeon, physician, scientist, and academic educator, as well as an internationally recognized expert in bariatric, metabolic, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery. Born in Poland, he graduated from the Jagiellonian University School of Medicine in Kraków and pursued his medical and academic career in both Europe and the United States.Throughout his remarkable career, Professor Tomasz Rogula was affiliated with renowned medical and academic institutions, including Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University, Jagiellonian University, Jan Kochanowski University, and DHR Health. He was also the founder and director of the International Bariatric Club, a global educational community bringing together thousands of surgeons and medical professionals from around the world.Medicine was more than a profession to him — it was his passion and calling. 

He devoted his life to caring for patients, advancing modern surgery, conducting scientific research, and educating generations of physicians and surgeons. His knowledge and experience reached far beyond the operating room, crossing borders and continents. 

Dr. Rogula leaves a lasting legacy in the world of medicine and in the lives of those he taught, treated, and inspired.Above all his professional accomplishments, Tomasz’s greatest pride and deepest love was his family. 

He was a devoted and loving husband to his beloved wife, Iwona, and a wonderful father to their two sons, Antoni and Adam, who were the greatest joy of his life. To his family, he was a source of love, strength, wisdom, and inspiration.Tomasz lived his life with passion, curiosity, and an extraordinary desire to help others. His legacy will live on through his family, students, colleagues, patients, and the countless people around the world whose lives he touched.He will be deeply missed, and his love and memory will remain forever in our hearts.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12 noon Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
