Erica Torres, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on April 21, 1971, in Edinburg, Texas, Erica was the cherished daughter of the late Raul and Maria L. Ramirez. She was precedded by her parents and her brother, Jose Guadalupe Ramirez.
Erica is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Juan A. Torres. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter, blessed with three wonderful children: Yesenia, Juan A. (married to Anna), and Karina. Her love and legacy continue through her five precious grandchildren: Riley, Sadie, Andres, Sofia, and Tomas, who brought immense joy to her life.
She was a sister to Juan Angel (Betty), Alicia, Rosalinda, Raul Jr., Aurora, and Martina (Luis), each of whom she held close to her heart. Erica's family was the center of her world, and she was the glue that held them together with her kindness, strength, and unwavering support.
Erica married the love of her life, Juan, on March 15, 1989. Their union was a testament to love's enduring power, and through their partnership, they created a nurturing home and raised a family grounded in faith and compassion.
A passionate and dedicated educator, Erica taught elementary school for over 27 years. Her impact on her students was profound, as she nurtured their curiosity and inspired them to reach their full potential. Her retirement due to illness was one of the hardest decisions she faced, as teaching was not only her profession but her calling. Her gentle spirit and love for learning left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Erica will be remembered for her caring nature, her infectious smile, and her ability to make everyone feel special and loved. Her warm presence will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
A service to honor and celebrate Erica's life will be held on November 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Legacy Chapels. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Erica's memory, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
