In Loving Memory of Georgie Ann GamblinMarch 1, 1952 – August 11, 2025

Georgie Ann Gamblin did not just live a life—she crafted one.

To most, she was Ann. To a small legacy of strong women, she was Georgie—a name she carried with pride, honoring her mother, Georgie Marie, and passing it on to her daughter, Georgia Kate. To three lucky boys, she was Gammi—scavenger hunt designer and maker of marvelous things. To her children, she was Mom—simple, solid, and always there. To her parents, she was Jake—a secret nickname in family circles spoken with mischief. To her husband James, she was simply Baby—the love of his life and his partner in daily laughter.

Ann was born in 1952 to Dan and Georgie, children of the Great Depression who gave her a powerful sense of perseverance. She learned the value of hard work. The importance of standing firm. And the deep satisfaction of creating something beautiful with your own two hands - a skill she used consistently in her life.

And create she did.

Her early creative sparks lit up the stage through theater, where she found joy in drama, costumes, and storytelling. She painted, too—pieces that filled her home with warmth and whimsy, because a house without beauty was simply incomplete.

And though Ann knew the name of Jesus from a young age, it was in her later years that her faith matured into a steady walk with the Lord. Her words began to take a new shape—simple dramas she wrote and performed that brought Scripture to life for her church. She was Mary, lingering at the tomb. Little Annie, with her trusting heart. She invited audiences, both in her own church and in other congregations she visited, into a deeper, more personal view of the Gospel. Always, her writing pointed upward—glorifying the Creator who shaped her so uniquely.

Fast forward to her most treasured creations—her children, Nick and Georgia Kate. Ann delighted in her role as mom - creating the daily magic of cardboard castles, made-up plays, & paint-splattered afternoons. As they grew, each of them carried forward a piece of her passion—Nick with his love for the stage, Georgia Kate with her eye for design and crafting.

In 2000, Ann married James—and with him came light. He stepped into her life after a time when the colors had dimmed. When joy and creativity felt out of reach. James’ steady love and boundless silliness made her feel safe and free to create again. To be fully her again. And in his love, she rediscovered her voice—not just as an artist or a writer, but as a woman deeply cherished. She joined James on the radio at KVMV, sharing her laughter and the light of Christ with the listeners of the Valley.

Then came her obsession with yarn. Her creativity flowed through every stitch, tiny critter, and cozy garment. Ann taught herself stitches no one else dared try. Knowing God had gifted her abundantly, she found joy in the process and joy in the giving.

Ann’s life was a tapestry woven by the Master Creator: full of color, texture, strength, and grace. Her own thread remains forever woven into the fabric of the family she loved. She is survived by her dad Dan, husband James, her children Nick and Georgia Kate, son-in-law Andrew, her three grandsons Grady, Boe, and Charlie, and a lifetime of friends and fellow makers.

Georgie Ann Gamblin will be deeply missed, but her creativity lives on. If you ever received something from her—a hand-knit rabbit, a handwritten note, a story that made you see things a little differently—then you carry a piece of her with you.
