George Cabrera

EDINBURG - George Cabrera, 54, went to his eternal home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 10, 2025 in Edinburg surrounded by his family. George fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith (II Timothy 4:7). George was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Cabrera; his brother, Gilbert Cabrera Jr.

George Cabrera was a retired teacher after teaching for 28 years at Alamo, South and Longoria Middle Schools. After retiring he got into insurance like his father. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, brothers and close friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones. He was always a light when he entered the room. He could walk into a room not knowing anyone and walk out friends with all of them. He had the most contagious laugh; it was so full of joy that you wanted to laugh along with him to feel it. He was known by many and loved by all.

Mr. Cabrera is survived by his wife, Eloisa Cabrera; his two children, Allison Cabrera, and Ryan Joseph Cabrera; his mother, Yolanda Cabrera; siblings, Gracie (Gus) Elizondo, Gerardo Cabrera, Gabriel (Robbie) Cabrera, Gloria (Dan) Shane, Gilma (Jessie) Garcia, and Greg Cabrera; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service on Thursday May 15, 2025, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Everyone attending is encouraged to wear white attire in memory of George. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
