Gilberto Garibay Gorena

Gilberto Garibay Gorena passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5th, 2025. Born in Hargill, Texas, he grew up in Donna, Texas a place he lovingly cherished and spoke about everyday.

Mr. Gorena was a loving father, grandfather, father- in-law , son, brother, uncle and friend. He was devoted to his family and believed in hard-work, being thankful and helping others. He had the most special way of making everyone smile and laugh. He will be deeply missed by all.

Mr. Gorena is preceded in death by his parents, Victorino and Raquel G. Gorena, four siblings, Rene, Eddie, Victor, and Yolanda Gorena.

He is survived by his two daughters, Brandy (George) Walker, Laura (George) Melendez, four grandchildren, Miles and Karys Walker, Adrian Contreras, and Kamilah Melendez, and three siblings, Estella (Martin) Hutchinson, Minerva (Paul) Niaves, and Graciela Martinez.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1st, 2025, with a 12 p.m. prayer service at Legacy Chapels located at 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Afterward, his body will be laid to rest at Donna City Cemetery, located at 1433 S Mile Rd in Donna.
