Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Lucia Mitchell; two children, James Mitchell Jr., and Ray Mitchell; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to  p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
