JESUS GERARDO “JESSIE” GARZA
October 26, 1963 – December 7, 2025
Austin, Texas – Jesus Gerardo “Jessie” Garza, 62, entered eternal rest peacefully surrounded by family members at his bedside on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in Austin, Texas. He was born in McAllen, Texas, on October 26, 1963. Jessie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ventura Garza and Maria Luisa Garza.
He is survived by his nine siblings: Eduardo (Alicia), Ireneo (Luisa), Santos (Rudy), Ventura (Maria de Jesus), Leonardo (Elena), Raul (Imelda), Analberto (Reyna), Daniel, and Juan (Frances); as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who loved him dearly.
Jessie graduated from the Jerry Clifton Center in Austin. He worked for ten years at Wendy’s, later serving in support roles at a local hospital and with a recycling company. He was a proud and dedicated worker in every position he held.
Jessie enjoyed life with a joyful and generous spirit. He loved Tejano music, singing, dancing, and cheering on his favorite wrestlers — especially “The Rock.” He also loved attending the Harlem Globetrotters games. At home and in his neighborhood, he was known for his warmth and kindness, always bringing people together — including his cherished dogs: Bear, Chiquita, and Beauty.
He found great joy in visiting the Recreation Center, where he developed computer and janitorial skills, attended movie outings and celebrations, and enjoyed trips to H-E-B for snack shopping while practicing his money management skills. These simple moments brought him independence and pride.
Although his passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, the legacy Jessie leaves behind is truly profound. His love, laughter, and the beautiful memories he created will live in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Jessie was the cornerstone that held the Garza legacy after the passing of his mother with Faith, Hope, and Love.
Jessie will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain a light for his family, friends, and his community. May he rest in peace, and perpetual light shine upon him.
The Family wishes to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice, Onion Creek Nursing, especially Jodie who cared for him the last years of his life.
