Edinburg - Jose Isidro Guzman, 62, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in Edinburg.
Mr. Guzman is survived by his wife, Sylvia Moralez Guzman; three children,Kristina, Zamora, Eric (Vilma) Guzman, and Marco (Katie) Guzman; parents, Jose Antonio Guzman and Maria Consuleo Lopez; four grandchildren,Jazmin Solis, Madeleine Zamora, Alessandra Guzman, and Adalee Guzman; eleven siblings, Maria San Juana Gonzalez, Juan Guzman, Javier Guzman, Cesar Guzman, Anna M. Guzman, Oneida Canu, Jose A. Guzman Jr., Jaime Guzman, Jorge Guzman, Jorge Guzman, Yolanda Barnes, and Jesus Guzman; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Guzman served 21 years in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant, and later completed 16 years with the Edinburg Police Department. Mr. Guzman was an active member of Rock of Ages Church where he served as usher, security, a part of mens ministry.
He was the caretaker of his entire family-not by assignment but by choice. He took on this role with integrity and honor, and a deep reverence for God. He cherished his wife, children, and granddaughters, and his love for them was evident in all he did. He may never have realized the lasting impact he had on everyone he encountered in his daily life. We shall never see his like again.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a 11 a.m. prayer service on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
