Larry C. Gonzalez

EDINBURG - Larry C. Gonzalez—loving husband, son, brother, father, uncle and soon-to-be-grandfather—died peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Edinburg, TX. He was 63. Larry is survived by his wife, Alicia Gomez Gonzalez; their three children, Laura D. Gonzalez, Laurence A. Gonzalez, and Aaron L. Gonzalez; his son-in-law, Jason M. Kaplan; his mother, Mary H. Gonzalez; his three siblings, Barbara (Ken) Dobbins, Patrick A. (Gladys) Gonzalez, and Charlotte A. (Steve) Nott; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Candelario Gonzalez. 

Those who met Larry instantly knew that he lived each day with generosity, humor, and a rare gift for making anyone feel like family. A proud Texas A&M graduate (‘84), he spent 34 years in banking and financial services, beginning his journey with the OCC and rising to Market President of the Upper Rio Grande Valley at Plains Capital Bank. This passion for community development and relationship building fostered Larry’s own entrepreneurial endeavors. He nurtured the L.C. Gonzalez Ranch for over 20 years, cultivating a legacy of land and love for his children and future grandchildren. Larry was also devoted to his community, serving as the Board Chairman of United Way, a member of Rotary Club in Edinburg, former Treasurer and Board Member of RGV Partnership, and countless additional acts of service. 

Together with his wife of 39 years, Alicia, Larry traveled far and wide, building a family rooted in laughter, love, and connection. He lived an extraordinary life, but his happiest moments were those spent on the ranch with his family and dogs, Mason and Venmo, sharing a delicious meal, sharing cryptic wisdom and creating memories that will be cherished for the rest of their lives.

Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1108 West Hackberry Ave in McAllen, TX. A funeral mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, TX. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, TX. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to United Way of South Texas (956) 686-6331.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
