Lydia Serna Cantu

EDINBURG - Lydia Serna Cantu, 86, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Edinburg surrounded by her family. Mrs. Cantu was preceded in death by her husband, Herasmo Cantu Sr.

Mrs. Cantu is survived by her three children, Richard Lee Cantu, Ida (Alfredo) Castaneda, and Herasmo Cantu Jr; four grandchildren, Kathy Jeremy, Nicole and Lauren; four great-grandchildren, Chance, Caleigh, Henry, and Charles; three siblings, Ofelia Serna, Olga Balderas, and Benito Serna; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
