Margarita Miranda

MCALLEN - Margarita Miranda, 83, entered eternal rest on Friday, February 24, 2023, in Spring Branch, Texas surrounded by her family. We are told that no one lives forever. But the truth is that some of us are immortal, living vividly in the hearts and minds of those that love us and in the legacies we leave behind. Such is the case with
Margarita Miranda. Margarita was preceded in death by her parents, Emiliano Ruiz Perez and Consuelo Cancho Naranjo; her brother, Emiliano Ruiz Cancho.

Born Consolación Margarita Ruiz Cancho in Madrid, Spain on August 12, 1939 - the year of peace and war - Margarita spent her childhood in rural Spain. In 1958, Margarita married Manuel S. Miranda, with whom in the following year she had her first child, Margaret Miranda. In 1960, the couple immigrated to the United States, living first in Puerto Rico, where they had their second and third children, Abraham Miranda, and Roger Miranda; Margarita’s fourth and fifth children, Yasmina Nye and Tatiana Fralin, were born during subsequent trips and prolonged stays in her native Spain. In 1974, Margarita, Manuel and their five children came to live in the Rio Grande Valley, living first in Edinburg and later in McAllen. Following the death of her husband, Manuel in 2018, Margarita moved to Spring Branch.

Quick with a smile and fond of laughter, Margarita was cherished by her many friends and family members. Warmth and kindness radiated from her being like the brightest of lights and her selfless devotion to her husband and children are among her most treasured legacies. Margarita will be dearly missed by those of us eager to be by her side once again.

Margarita is survived by her five children, Margaret Miranda, Dr. Abraham (Maeve) Miranda, Roger (Bonnie) Miranda, Yasmina (William) Nye, and Tatiana (Joseph) Fralin; six grandchildren, Hadley, Isabella, Jacob, Katarina, Maximilian, and Sarah; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
