Maria Cantu

EDINBURG - Maria Cantu, 85, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Mrs. Cantu was preceded in death by her husband, Israel Cantu Sr.; parents, Lorenzo Garza and Ana Garza Salinas; daughter, Maria Cantu; four siblings, Gustavo Garza, Horacio Garza, Guadalupe Garza, and Omar Garza. 

Mrs. Cantu is survived by her three children, Benito Cantu, Veronica (Homero) Sanchez, and Israel (San Juanita) Cantu Jr.; nine grandchildren, Carolina Cantu, Homero Sanchez Jr., Clarissa Cantu, Giselle Sanchez, Aidaly Sauceda, Brenda Cantu, Joel Sanchez, Israel Cantu III, and Andrea Cantu; three great grandchildren, Gael Sanchez, Railey Sauceda, and Amira Sauceda; numerous nieces and nephews.   

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025. at Legacy Chapels. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
