Maria Elva Reyes

MCALLEN -  Maria Elva Reyes, 74, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in McAllen. Mrs. Reyes was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Juanita Ordas Lujan; three siblings, Richard Lujan, Aldaberto Lujan, and Rosalinda Vargas.

A cherish mother and grandmother, Elva had a heart that was as big as her smile. Her love she for music brought joy to her soul. There was not a day she never missed a bingo event. Maria enjoyed doing puzzles, she was the most supportive parent and grandparent. She was the one that created a foundation of strength and love for their family. May her spirit continue to dance to the music she loved in the heavens above. Maria filled our hearts with sweet memories that’ll remain a whole lifetime through. For she has blessed our lives forever through her goodness, love and strength! Forever cherished and forever missed. We love you till eternity!

Mrs. Reyes is survived by her husband, Alfredo Reyes; four children, Yolanda (Martin Cerda) Cantu, Alfredo Reyes Jr., and Esmeralda (Jose Garcia) Reyes, and Ray (Janie Trujillo) Reyes; eight grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Juan Mateo Lujan, Javier (Lupita) Lujan, Sergio (Judy) Lujan, Francisco Lujan, Antonio Lujan, Eugenio "Gene" (Margaret) Lujan, Luz Irene (Ruben) Lujan, and Noelia (Jerry) Delgado; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 12 noon, Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
