Maria Guadalupe Guevara

MCALLEN - Maria Guadalupe Guevara, 93 years old, passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on December 11th, 1932, in Mexico, to Eduardo and Cecilia De Leon. She lived majority of her life in McAllen with her loving husband, Honorio, whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a home full of joy and laughter, raising a loving family with three children. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Honorio Guevara; her parents, four siblings, Luis De Leon, David De Leon, Roberto De Leon, and Otoniel De Leon.

Maria's greatest joy was her family, who were always at the center of her heart and home. She expressed her love through her care and warmth that she brought to everyday moments. She found peace and happiness tending to her beloved plants, feeding the neighborhood cats and shopping at Dillard's. Maria especially enjoyed her pan dulce and cafecito, savoring those moments shared with family, creating meaningful memories that will be cherished forever. The simplest joys was what brought her unforgettable smile to her face.

Maria Guadalupe Guevara leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, compassion, and family that will continue to live on in all who knew her.

Mrs. Guevara is survived by her three children, Idolina Guevara, Ruben (Carmen) Guevara, and Enedina (Carlos) Nunez; ten grandchildren, Annette, Stephanie, Jennifer, Jonathon, Ruben Jr., Justin, Amanda, Christopher, Sebastian, and Julian; seven great-grandchildren, four siblings, Carmen Ramos, Petra Garcia, Eduardo De Leon Jr., and Alicia Guevara; numerous nieces and nephews.
