Maria A. Moreno

EDINBURG - Maria A. Moreno, 95, went to be with our Lord on Friday, November 7, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Moreno was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Moreno; her grandson, RJ Moreno; her parents, Jesus and Emilia Solis; eight siblings, Eva De La Rosa, Feliciano Solis, Rogelio Solis, Raymundo Solis, Abel Solis, Emilio Solis, Gilberto Solis, and Jesus Solis.

Mamá, Abuelita, Aurora liked to experience the thrill of the new. She rode a horse, drank colonche, harvested the foods in season, washed clothes at the river, cooked on a leña stove, left the comfort of home and family moving to a strange country and thrived. She volunteered at her children’s school, advocated for fellow belt factory workers, started social Fridays for family and friends to share meals, laughs, music, gifts. She had words of wisdom if asked, a place to rest if one needed, and a great joy for dancing and humor. Of course she played lotería, sewed clothes, cared for grand children and made Gorditas de azúcar for all. She had buena mano para cocinar and always ready to ayudar. Her example of a life well lived is one to copy because it was not a copyrighted novel, it was an original we could attempt to emulate.

Mrs. Moreno is survived by her six children, Marco Antonio (Mona) Moreno, Juan Carlos (Luz Elena) Moreno, Emilia (Hugo) Castillo, Maria Luisa (David) Garcia, Arturo (Guadalupe) Moreno, and Roberto (Gina) Moreno; fifteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren; her brother Rodolfo Solis; numerous nieces nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
