MCALLEN - M. Maxine “Maggie” Guerra (formerly Maria Maxine Guerra) of McAllen, Texas, passed away at the age of 65 on December 30, 2025 due to health complications. Surrounded by her loving family and friends, Maxine’s soul found its way to eternal peace. She spent her early years in McAllen, Texas and in 1995 at age 30 moved to Norfolk, Nebraska later settling in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended McAllen High School (McHigh) in McAllen, Texas - Class of 1979. In Omaha she attended Metropolitan Community College where she earned an associate in applied science and a certificate of achievement with honors in bookkeeping. Her life’s journey was spent alternating her time between Nebraska and her native Texan home. Maxine was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She possessed a rare culmination of special qualities. These qualities allowed her to cultivate friendships and create community wherever she was calling home. Maxine easily connected with others and always made everyone feel loved. She was a selfless person and her generosity knew no bounds. Maxine had a sharp mind, humorous wit, free spirit, kind nature and an empathetic heart. Herwork ethic, dependability, and loyalty shined through her life’s work and relationships.

Her enormous creative skill was always on display. She never ceased to impress when creating beautiful cakes, participating in hobby craft shows, styling or decorating items for homes and special occasions, or simply creating looks for her Halloween costume.

Maxine enjoyed gambling, diners & drinks with friends and family, music and karaoke, all of which emphasized her enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures. Although Maxine’s earthly body has left this world, she often reminded us that her free spirit and uniquely loving soul would be a part of our hearts and the universe forever. Her physical presence will always be missed but her family rests easy knowing that she left a mark on the hearts of all, which will never be forgotten.
