Natalia Basilio

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” JOHN 8:12

Natalia Rafal Basilio viuda de Brussett, 80 years old, entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Edinburg, Texas, surrounded by the loving presence of her husband Victor Basilio, her children Anne Brussett, Eleazer Brussett, Cielito Brussett-Atendido, Floridel Brussett-Lim, Angelita Brussett-Alquiza, Oscarina Brussett-Santiago, and Jonathan Basilio. She was blessed with twenty loving grandchildren & five great-grandchildren.

Life for Naty, as she was fondly called, was quite challenging, to say the least. She Hailed from Dumaguete, Philippines, widow at 29 years old and with six children she took under her wing, who she solely managed to find ways to get them proper education – with God’s blessings, they are now all successful in their respective profession.

Six years in her widowed life, she found her second love. With the sweet persistence of Victor Basilio, they got married and bore a son, Jonathan Basilio.

In her hometown of Busay, in Basilan, Philippines, she was known to many as someone will do everything to provide and protect her family, especially her children. Their home was always neat and tidy, a fastidious attribute which eventually passed on to all children. She also selflessly served as barrio councilwoman for 7 years in her hometown. Natalia had a passion for singing. One can always hear her humming her favorite tune as she goes about with her daily tasks.

She’s a fighter, especially pertaining to her health. Those who know her can attest the kind of strength she had. She mustered so hard to battle all the illnesses that life had thrown at her, and she tried so hard to win them all.

Special thanks are given to Amorosa Home Health headed by Ms. Hilda Horr, to her provider Janie Perez, who unselfishly took care of her, to DHR hospice care service, to her fellow Basileños and Zamboangeños, & to all her loving adopted children whom she met here in the valley who learned to treasure her like their own.
