OFELIA G. POMPA

MCALLEN - Ofelia G. Pompa, 96, went to be with our Lord on Friday, June 9, 2023. Born in Pawnee, Tx, Ofelia had lived most of her life in McAllen. Mrs. Pompa is preceded in death by her parents, Celedonia M. Salinas and Jose Garza; her husband, Jose R. Pompa and a son, Albert Garza; her brothers, Emilio Garza, Eduardo Ramirez, Zaragosa Ramirez, and Heverto "Beto" Ramirez.

Mrs. Pompa was a loving and supporting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, present at every game, concert and academic achievement celebration possible. You would often see her donning a McHi Bulldog shirt, cheering from the stands while ringing a cowbell! Mrs. Pompa enjoyed tending to her colorful garden of lush plants and seasonal blooms. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family, visiting thrift shops, and playing Mexican Lotería. Ofelia was an avid San Antonio Spurs enthusiast and attended several games with her family. She also enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. Mrs. Pompa dedicated many years to serving children with special needs at McAllen ISD. During that time, she built lasting friendships and impacted the hearts of many.

Those that knew Ofelia will remember her as a faithful woman of God who gracefully overcame any battle she faced. Her trust was in the Lord, and her family finds solace knowing she now walks the streets of gold!

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings Sofia Espinoza, Alicia Duenes, Daniel Garza, and Hector Garza; six children, Jose A. (Patty) Pompa, Anna A. Pompa, Alma P. (Bill) Barnhouse, Norma P. Garza, Carla P. (Jerry) Lopez, and Santiago "Jimmy" (Selene) Pompa; a daughter in law, Elva (Albert) Garza, numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren who referred to her as "Muma".
