Ofelia Trevino

SAN JUAN- Ofelia Trevino, 93, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in McAllen. Ms. Trevino was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Trevino and Aurelia Garcia Trevino; five children, Maria De Jesus, Martha Lydia Moreno, Rodolfo Moreno Jr., Jose Alberto Moreno, and Martin Moreno; four siblings, Gilberto Trevino, Hortencia Garza, Alejandro Trevino, and Reyes Trevino.

Ms. Trevino is survived by her four children, Sylvia (Rick) Gonzalez, Julia (Roman) Acevedo, Hector Moreno, and Cris (David) Pitt; sixteen grandchildren, Vianey, Jianna, Abel, Jolvae, Ray, Janeitha, Jacob, Tiffany, Karina, Brandon, Dylan, Delitha, Juan, Nick, John Anthony, and Joanna; eleven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ofelia, affectionately known as “Fela,” was born in Los Ramones, Nuevo León, Mexico, and came to the United States during her early childhood years.

Throughout her life, Fela became known for her love of dancing, playing chalupa, making the best homemade flour tortillas, and for her beautiful green eyes. She was a tireless worker, laboring from sunup to sundown to provide for her children. She was blessed to raise her family in a home that still stands facing the beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of San Juan.

As her golden years approached, Fela kept her mind sharp by attending adult daycare each day. She continued to play chalupa and cherished the time she spent among her friends. More than anything, she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren during holidays, birthdays, and ordinary moments shared simply because they were together.

Every year, her family celebrated her birthday with a big fiesta, and this past April was no different. She enjoyed every moment of the celebration and sang her favorite song, “La Puerta Negra,” just as she did at every family gathering.

To say that Fela will be missed is an understatement. She was loved beyond measure, and her tenacity, love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family will continue to inspire generations to come. Saying thank you does not seem sufficient, so instead, we will honor her by carrying forward her legacy of love for one another.

Dance among the angels, Fela, and embrace the children and family members who have gone before you. Until we meet again.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2026 at St. John the Baptist in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery in San Juan.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
