OFELIA R. VILLARREAL EDINBURG - God opened His gates of Heaven for Ofelia R. Villarreal, 75, on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Edinburg surrounded by her family. Born in Edinburg, Texas, Mrs. Villarreal was a lifelong resident of Edinburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan G. Villarreal, Jr.; two sons, Juan, III and Gilbert Villarreal; her parents, José Isabel Rodríguez, Sr. and María Altagracia Puente Rodríguez; a brother, René Rodríguez; and a sister, Irma Cantú. Mrs. Villarreal is survived by her twelve children: María Luisa Cantú, Rosalinda Luna, Héctor, Ricardo, René, Norma Linda, Blanca Estella, Jaime Omar, Noelia Olga Mattingly, Noemí Nora, Aarón and Ofelia Cristina Villarreal; 23 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, José, Héctor, Francisco, Rodolfo, David, and Ricardo Rodríguez; sisters, Olga Garza, Yolanda Jasso, Rosalinda Rodríguez, Irene Vera, and María Alicia Rodríguez. Mrs. Ofelia R. Villarreal will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was the eldest in a family of 14 and raised her 13 siblings, whom considered her like a second mother. To that end, she had 14 beautiful children of her own. She enjoyed life and enjoyed the visit of family members, especially her beloved children and grandchildren. The Villarreal Family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone during this most difficult time. Her family knows Mom is at peace and resting next to her beloved husband (Juan, Jr.) and sons (Juan, III and Gilbert). Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
