RICARDO "RICHARD" GUERRA MISSION - Ricardo "Richard" Guerra, 59, eternal rest Thursday, September 30, 2021, in Mission. Mr. Guerra was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto Guerra Sr; his brother, Ronnie Guerra. Richard was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, cooking, bowling, golfing, and skiing. "Richard was a the best bird shooter I've ever known" said his brother David Guerra. Nobody BBQ'ed like Richard, he "Chef it up" for his family gatherings in California and in Texas. He served the community unselfishly for the betterment of his fellow man. He was a proud and dedicated Rotarian. Richard believed in community service. When it was time to fit underprivileged school kids with new shoes, Richard was right there sitting on the floor helping the kids try on as many pairs as it took to find the perfect pair. When the Rotary Club was sending supplies to an orphanage in Reynosa, Tamps. Mexico, it was Richard who often did the deliveries, even when it became unsafe to cross the border. Richard was a good friend to everyone in Rotary. Richard had an affinity for mathematics and financial affairs and served as the comptroller of several businesses. Richard was born in Oakland, California, but spent most of his life in Hidalgo County. He graduated from McAllen High School in 1980, and attended Pan American University. In March of 2021, Richard relocated to Reno, Nevada and was employed by the Tesla Company. Richard never met a stranger and was a friend to all. His kindness and warmth and sense of humor will be missed by all. Mr. Guerra is survived by his mother, Aida A. Guerra; two siblings, Gilbert Guerra Jr., and David (Rose) Guerra; six nephews, Mario L. (Erika) Guerra, Isaac H. (Linda) Guerra, Michael D. (Audrey) Guerra, Christopher D. (Debbie) Guerra, Robert E. Guerra (Rachel Cardenas), and David A. Guerra; his niece, Laura Y. (Isaac) Zavala; numerous cousins and friends. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service Monday, October 4, 2021, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
