Roel Montes Sr.

EDINBURG- Roel Montes Sr., 85, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Edinburg. Mr. Montes was preceded in death by his wife, Elisa Emma Montes; parents, Pedro and Paula Montes; two siblings, Ema Montes, and Cipriano Montes.

Mr. Montes is survived by his five children, Maria Elisa (Audenago) De Leon, Roel (Leticia) Montes Jr., Maria Isabel (Edward) Nega, Criselda (Juan) Sanchez, and Isela (Hector) Maldonado; fourteen grandchildren, Claudia De Leon, Crystal De Leon, Michael De Leon, Miranda Montes, Kassandra Garcia, Roel Montes III, Julio Montes, Edward Nega, Clarissa Salazar, Diana Sanchez, Juan Sanchez II, Marco Sanchez, Miguel Maldonado, and Arianna Maldonado; six great grandchildren, Alissandra Garcia, Benjamin Salazar, June Sanchez, Santiago Sanchez, Damon Santibanez and one on the way; eight siblings, Vicente Montes, Rogelio Montes, Sostenes Montes, Mario Montes, David Montes, Ana Alaniz, Benita Salinas, and Angelita Gutierrez; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
