Roque “Rocky” Rodriguez Jr., 61, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Rocky was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all. Known to many as Rocky or Rock, he lived for family, storytelling, writing poetry, music, and making everyone feel at home. His mission in life was simple: to make anyone who crossed his path smile.
Born in Mexico and raised in California, Rocky eventually made his way to Texas, where he met Lou. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Christina Monique and Sami, in Dallas. Not long after, Rocky and the girls packed up and relocated to the Rio Grande Valley—a decision that came easy to him, as it brought them closer to family, where most of his siblings were rooted.
A salesman who wore many hats throughout his life, Rocky left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His charisma, kindness, and unmistakable sense of humor made him one-of-a-kind.
He found peace and purpose in building motorcycles with intricate detail, pouring his soul into every creation. A passionate musician, he played drums, bass, and just about any instrument he could get his hands on. Music was never far from him—he often lost himself in it, especially while riding the open road.
Above all, Rocky held a close and personal relationship with the Lord, one that brought him strength and understanding throughout his life.
Mr. Rodriguez was preceded in death by his parents, Roque G. Rodriguez and Rosita G. Rodriguez, and his brother, Rene (Elizabeth) Rodriguez.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lou P. Rodriguez; his two daughters, Christina Monique Rodriguez and Samantha Lee (Ali Kiassat) Rodriguez; his siblings, Raquel R. (Rodrigo) Trevino, Reynaldo (Beatriz) Rodriguez, Becky R. (Sabin) Escobedo, Rosie R. (Rafael) Garcia, Mely R. (Joe) De Leon, Caly R. Rodriguez, Ruth R. (Simitrio) Marquez, and Rigoberto (Raquel) Rodriguez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.
A chapel service will take place at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Legacy Chapels. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
We invite all who knew and loved Rocky to join us in celebrating his life, sharing memories, and honoring the love he gave so freely.
In lieu of traditional arrangements, if you wish to send flowers to the family, we kindly ask that they be prepared to rest beside Rocky in his memory.
“May the beautiful music inside you never stop playing.” - RR
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request donations in memory of their loved one.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
