With deep love and immeasurable gratitude, we announce the passing of Sabrina Walker-Hernandez on July 12, 2025. A powerhouse of wisdom, wit, and unwavering purpose, Sabrina was a devoted mother, proud Bibi, loving wife, sister, friend, and a woman who moved through life with boldness and intention.

Born on January 31, 1971, Sabrina lived out loud. She was a U.S. Army veteran (Specialist, 1991–1995), she was a lifelong servant leader dedicated to building communities and empowering others. From 1999 to 2019, she served as CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV. In 2019, she founded Building Better Boards (formerly Supporting World Hope), where she mentored thousands of nonprofit leaders nationwide until 2025. She also contributed significantly to the Museum of South Texas History, serving as a trustee in 2022 and becoming Secretary of the board and Governance Chair in 2025.

Her extensive accomplishments include serving as a former board director for the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EDC), receiving the Jim Whetherington Southwestern Award in 2017, earning a Harvard Non-Profit Management Certification, and being honored as the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year in 2023. Despite her numerous accolades, she wore her titles with profound humility, always prioritizing the growth and success of others over personal recognition.

Sabrina led with truth, love, and fire. At home, she was our truest compass, loving without condition, telling it like it was, and leaving no doubt that we were deeply seen and supported. As a Bibi (Swahili for grandmother), she was irreplaceable, funny, surprising, and full of life.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor her legacy by making donations in her name to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, two organizations that were close to her heart.

Funeral services are pending and under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
